Frequently asked questions

Is it a solid floor?

It is a nail down application to your existing plywood sub-floor, so it becomes a permanent part of your home.

What is the finishing process?
After installation of your hardwood flooring, it is then a 3-step process for finishing them. Start off with a rough grit sand paper to ensure the floors are sanded flat. Then move to a finer sand paper to smooth the floor. Finally, we buff the floors with a very fine grit screen which ensures a super smooth surface for finishing. For retaining the natural beauty, we apply 3 solid coats of commercial grade oil-base polyurethane or environmentally friendly water-base polyurethane. In between the coats of polyurethane, we do a very fine sanding to ensure the correct bonding of the polyurethane and a smooth finish coat.

What if I wanted to stain the floors?
First, we install your floors. If you were undecided on color/stain choices, we will apply several to the raw wood and let them dry so you can see what they look like in different light against your décor before you make your final selection. Then we add the stain/color you chose before the polyurethane process starts. Note: Stain is simply a color choice and is not in place of any of the coats of polyurethane.

Laminate & Engineered Flooring

These products are specifically designed to go in areas where traditional hardwood cannot be used like over concrete/slab or basement flooring. Laminate floors are designed to float over a moisture pad. They are interlocked with a tongue and groove system. These floors typically have a very strong, scratch resistant surface. They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns of either hardwood or tile. Engineered floors are a veneer of real hardwood floors over plywood backing. Installation can be glue down or floating over a moisture barrier pad as well. These come in a variety of species, colors and widths. They are available in either pre-finished or un-finished. Also, many engineered floors can be refinished.
